ReSound Sensia is a new premium hearing aid family designed to solve a common frustration with today's AI-powered hearing aids: focusing on the wrong voice, or mistaking background music for the sound you want to hear. Sensia is built to follow the conversation you are actually having, not simply the loudest voice in the room, while keeping the very small size and all-day battery life of its predecessor, ReSound Vivia.
Key Features at a Glance
Sensia brings together smarter automatic processing, proven connectivity, and a wide range of styles. Here is what defines the family:
- Intelligent All-Around, a new automatic sound-processing system
- Four-microphone beamforming combined with AI noise reduction
- Auracast fully working at launch, no future update needed
- At least 24 hours of rechargeable battery life
- IP68-rated durability across a range of styles
- New bimodal option for Cochlear Nucleus implant users
Hearing the Voice You Actually Want
Sensia's Intelligent All-Around system combines three technologies that work together automatically. AcoustIQ identifies your sound environment and decides which features to switch on, a four-microphone beamformer uses both hearing aids together to favor the person you are facing, and AI-based noise reduction quiets competing voices around them. Because a hearing aid cannot know whether you want to hear the band or the person across the table, Sensia prioritizes speech automatically, with a dedicated music program available whenever you want it.
In a GN study, Sensia made the person in front the most audible voice for 80% of participants, a result supported by independent researchers at Hörzentrum Oldenburg.
Auracast Working Today
Many hearing aids are only Auracast "ready," meaning the feature arrives later through a software update. Sensia's Auracast capability works now. Through the ReSound Smart 3D app, you can tune into broadcast audio in theaters, airports, houses of worship, and other equipped venues, often with clearer, fuller sound than traditional hearing loops. Sensia also supports Bluetooth Low Energy Audio streaming, and at least one receiver-in-ear model includes a telecoil.
Small Size, All-Day Power
Despite its added processing, Sensia's rechargeable microRIE keeps essentially the same compact size and battery performance as Vivia, rated for at least 24 hours and up to roughly 30 hours depending on use. Styles range from rechargeable microRIE and custom in-the-ear models to a tiny completely-in-canal option. The full automatic system is available in the top Sensia 9 tier, while Sensia 7 offers the same speech technology through a manually selected noise program.
An Option for Cochlear Implant Users
For people who wear a Cochlear Nucleus implant on one side and a hearing aid on the other, ReSound Sensia Bimodal is designed to work with the implant through the Smart Hearing Alliance between the two companies, helping both ears function as a coordinated system.
